This sweet cubensis was found in the foothills surrounding Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica. Approximately 1000-1200 ft. elevation. Our friend Rhino was thoughtful enough to take some spore prints from the mushroom specimens he collected while exploring various regions of Costa Rica. More on Rhino's story of finding this treasure here.
Costa Rica is a magical kingdom for fungi. Magic mushrooms grow wild through most of the country as does other species of mushrooms. With a lush rain forest and fertile soil the mushrooms thrive in this country. We have heard nothing but exciting stories over the years from our friends that have visited this tropical paradise of the world. With Costa Rica lying on both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, I imagine this mushroom has heard many stories come through the winds. What kind of stories will it tell you?
Some of the pictures shown are of the actual field in Costa Rica where Rhino found all these delicious Costa Rica cubensis mushroom spores growing. Also there are some pictures of the original mushrooms found. I've had a few friends visit Costa Rica over the years and they tell me shrooms are easy to get from the locals. We have a foray planned for Costa Rica this summer so we’ll have some new varieties of spores from this country in the future.
We will be introducing new cubenis spores from Costa Rica very soon from Arenal Volcano region that this author personally picked on my travels to Costa Rica. We will no longer be offering this current strain to make room for the new one. This one has been discounted to move it out quicker. Once it’s gone it’s gone so enjoy the savings!
